The Westin Resort and Spa Whistler
For any of you heading up to Whistler for your event, may I suggest the Westin Resort and Spa in Whistler as one of the venues of choice for your event. The Westin Whistler is very nice hotel with a wonderful ambience. If you do the drive from Vancouver to Whistler on a nice sunny day, I found the scenery spectacular and your guests will love it.
The turnoff road to the Westin is just before the main entrance to Whistler village and the drive into the Westin is spacious and inviting. They have valet parking of course and the parking for the hotel is conveniently located underground to the left. This is very convenient for any vendors that are loading in for your event and also for any wheel chair bound guests as parking and access to the hotel is very easy.
Entering into the lobby you will be amazed at how spacious it is. Elevators are conveniently located making all areas easy to get to. The hotel has a nice lounge and restaurant and is one of the many choices to dine out in Whistler. As you can see from the pictures, it was Christmas season when I did my events there.
They have a number of rooms to host parties. All of various sizes and they can configured to suit your requirements.
The Westin also has a great little mini mall complete with a Japanese sushi restaurant. This is great for wandering around. There is also a long patio on top of the parking area where you can walk down various paths that leads to the village and other areas…great for exploring.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and will do their best to fulfill your requests. This seems to be one of the hallmarks of the hotels in Whistler. As an experienced DJ, catering to the client is number one at this venue and I’m sure you will be pleased with the service.
One thing I do notice about the hotels Whistler is the lack of entertainment in the hotels. A number of guests were walking around looking for something to do in the early evening and when they saw me unloading, they got quite excited thinking there was going to be a karaoke party in the hotel that they could join. There was a party but I was contracted for a private company. The guest were quite disappointed that they would be able to have some fun so I can see that there might be an opportunity for the hotels in this regard.
Still, the Westin is one nice venue in Whistler to consider when you’re holding any type of event. I give this venue a 4.8 out of 5 stars.
